Rewriting the History of Connexive Logic

چکیده

Abstract The “official” history of connexive logic was written in 2012 by Storrs McCall who argued that founded ancient logicians like Aristotle, Chrysippus, and Boethius; it further developed medieval Abelard, Kilwardby, Paul Venice; rediscovered the 19th twentieth century Lewis Carroll, Hugh MacColl, Frank P. Ramsey, Everett J. Nelson. From 1960 onwards, finally transformed into non-classical calculi which partly concur with systems relevance paraconsistent logic. In this paper will be McCall’s historical analysis is fundamentally mistaken since doesn’t take account two versions connexivism. While “humble” connexivism maintains properties (like condition no proposition implies its own negation) only apply to “normal” (e.g., self-consistent) antecedents, “hardcore” insists they also hold for “abnormal” propositions. It shown overwhelming majority forerunners were connexivists. Their ideas concerning (“humbly”) implication don’t give rise, however, anything a

Connexive Modal Logic

Connexive logic is a neglected direction in non-classical logic. In the present paper, first an axiomatic system of connexive propositional logic is presented. This logic, C, is shown to be sound and complete with respect to a class of relational models. It seems that this semantics is, in fact, the first known intuitively plausible interpretation of a system of connexive logic. The presentatio...

Dialogical Connexive Logic

Many of the discussions about conditionals can best be put as follows: can those conditionals that involve an entailment relation be formulated within a formal system? The reasons for the failure of the classical approach to entailment have usually been that they ignore the meaning connection between antecedent and consequent in a valid entailment. One of the first theories in the history of lo...

When Conditional Logic met Connexive Logic

Conditional logic and connexive logic are two theories whose goal is the correct formalization of the way conditionals (i.e. sentences of form if A, C) are used in natural language. However, both approaches are never combined in the literature. I present here the first formal system which allows modeling the ideas behind these two approaches in a unique framework. Furthermore, the resulting sys...

Bi-rewriting rewriting logic

Rewriting logic appears to have good properties as logical framework, and can be useful for the development of programming languages which attempt to integrate various paradigms of declarative programming. In this paper I propose to tend towards the operational semantics for such languages by basing it on bi-rewrite systems and ordered chaining calculi which apply rewrite techniques to rst-orde...
